• The zips on these are tight and, although generally fine, may tear away from the rest of the bag if wrenched open with too much force.

*Note - these bags 'breathe', so won't keep dry goods etc from going stale, however, they are great for keeping fruit and veg fresh, great for freezing things in too.

• Made from completely biodegradable and compostable materials; corn starch, PLA (synthesised from corn) and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate).

• This combination of materials is non-toxic and contains no Phthalate or Bisphenol A (BPA).

• Certified free of GMO material.

• While these materials are biodegradable and compostable, they are not 100% renewable as the PBAT component is derived from petroleum-based materials. We are limited at the moment by the availability of suitable, sustainable raw materials that deliver the barrier and performance properties we need but are always testing resins made from an even greater amount of plant-based material – exciting times!

• Compostable - at home? Read on ...

• Now, you might think we're making much ado about zip, but that's exactly the point. Put them in your home compost once they can't be reused anymore, and they will biodegrade to ...well, zip, totally non-toxic elements - worm-friendly too. However, the zip component will take longer to compost, so please remove it first (and or cut it up into smaller pieces) if that's going to be an issue.
